What are you tips on saving money, whilst doing family research.

I'll start with one.

Set your printer/copier to fast, economical, greyscale printing. It will save you a fortune on ink cartridges.

I email my State Library, they have a 2 hour free search for each quiery and if they have any info on the quiery then send it free also. I have gotten a lot of great leads like this.

If you are in Sheffield at the Library or the Archive, you can search ancestry free on their computers and I don't mean just the essentials package.

If you can, try and get marriage certificates from the record office providing you know which church they wed at (Ie IGI source) and that you can get to the record office. That should save a few bob.

Some CROs have indexes of wills.
