Could someone help me please?
I write away whenever I see the name Moore - see wanted board, James & Sarah Moore - (parents of John Moore born ~ 1805) and once answer I had from a lady said that she had found on the IGI a marriage for a James Moore & Sarah French on thr 29th September 1805 in Cranbrook Kent. She also said she found that this couple had about 8 children born between 1810 and 1825, but no John.
I looked up the IGI Batch number for the British Isles and couldn't find any marriages for Cranbrook Kent there. I then tried Family Search, but couldn't find any children. Am I looking in the right place and why would this person tell me about what she had found on the IGI if it wasn't there?
What am I doing wrong/

Hi Ian,
Thanks for your help, I haven't answered before (computer problems) - I have found the marriage you refer to James Moore/Sarah French 1805, Cranbrook Kent, also about 8 children, but none of them John. The 1st birth I can see is 1810 and that seems a long time after a marriage for those days to me. I have since learnt from some of my WA contacts that John's birth was either 1806 or 1807 (depending who I am talking to). One has said definitely Cranbrook, but anything I look up, particularly at Family search or IGI only states Kent County, England.
Nevertheless, I will keep trying
Thank you once again,
Rae

Thanks Ian,
I did find them on 41/ 51 and only Sarah on 61 and also John, Mary and 4 children in Cranbrook in 1841 (which would be correct, as they came to Western Australia the following year). The only thing is that on 51 and 61, it shows Sarah as coming from another county. One said Penhurst and the other some funny name, but I have decided that it is Ticehurst, which is not that far from Cranbook anyway. But as usual no-one wants to acknowledge John as their child, although James & Sarah were married in 1805 and the fiirst child I can find for them - of a big family - is 1810. It seems a long time since marriage to have your first child doesn't it? and John was born 1806/7 so I am coming around to them as his parents.
