Some of the information is a bit on the sparse side!

I think I have a criminal in the family - Edwin Murray who in 1877 was found guilty in the "the Great turf fraud" - but so far I cannot find definite proof one way or another, just not enough information and I cannot get rid of the doubt I have that it really is him!

Had the day to explore, though sparse may be right.
Looking for Henry Fleetwood sentenced to six months in 1873, I have a couple of lengthy newspaper articles on his trial.

Peter, you may already have this but will post it anyway just in case.

"EDWIN MURRAY (32), alias Wells, alias Monroe "

and

"MURRAY— GUILTY as accessory after the fact"

http://www.oldbaileyonline.org/browse.jsp?id=def5-391-18770409&div=t18770409-391#highlight

I also found some newspaper articles on the case which state his occupation as Betting Agent. Let me know if you would like a copy of the articles.

thanks Gibbo, I have read the Old Bailey account and it gives so little in the descriptions of Murray, I just cannot be sure it is a relative - all very circumspect - same name, similar age and occupations but nothing definite.

I would have thought that somewhere there would be a description of the person and to his address etc.

A lot of the records may just give info you already know from other sources.

The FMP Friday says they have new records but it seems to be a segregation of the ones released during the week. Edward Childs my convict is on the list in a few but I doubt it will give more info than what I already know.
