Hello Emeltee,

Thank you for looking. They should be somewhere because they didn't travel to Australia until late 1871, arriving in Queensland on 13 Sep 1871.

William and his brother John moved from Stafford to Derby to start a silk business.

The only one with a baptism record that I can find so far:
Sophia c. 12 Jun 1852 St Weburgh, Derby, Derby.

The children born after Sophia may not have been born in Derby since I have no exact date or place of birth for William, Florence and John.

Perhaps a search for John Patterson MORLEY may turn up a result in 1861 and / or 1871.

Regards,

Dave

I've tried that for you but still no joy. I have also tried every spelling of Morley that I can think of and still no joy.
I'm sure that they are out there somewhere but I can't find them.

I think it maybe Stratford on Slaney, Co.Wicklow.?

And could Leck, Staffs. actually be Leek.

Hello juliejtp,

Thank you very much. That solves one mystery. Florence ended up in Australia where she died in 1938. The on-line BDM Index for Queensland cuts off at 1929. They usually show the place of birth if it is not Queensland. That would have been a help.

Dave

Hello Lynne,

Yes, thank you. I have all the details I can find in FamilySearch, RootsWeb, Qld On-line Index and Qld microfiche Death Index to 1964 and just about every other on-line free site there is.

If I have any specific MORLEY queries I will start a new thread.

Thanks,

Dave

Hello Lynne,

The MORLEY family are in my tree by marriage of Florence to Henry Clarke KILNER.

I have them both in the 1903 Electoral Roll:

No : 5151
Surname : KILNER
Given Names : Henry Clarke
Title :
*** : Male
Place of Living: 216 Constance street
Occupation : agent
Polling Place : Fortitude Valley
Division : Brisbane
ID : 16526

QFHSdatasearch Version 1.4.1 by Queensland Family History Society Inc.
From [Commonwealth Electoral Rolls (Queensland) 1903] database on 24/12/2008

Henry Clarke Kilner b. 15 Mar 1854 c. 29 Apr 1854 Ipswich

He doesnt appear on 1913 or 1922 roll but Florence does.

Florence died on 24 Apr 1938 but I can't find a death reg for Henry anywhere.

Regards,

Dave

Hello Amanda,

It's never too late. I'm always working on different branches of my tree a bit at a time. I doubt I've completely finished with the MORLEY branch. I'll check to see what queries I have.

Regards,

Dave
