His paintings are not technically good but the content and almost photographic images of London life at his time is incredible...Hogarths House is in Chiswick London and i will be visiting it in the New Year....my favourite of his is Beer Lane closely followed by Bedlam....not sure if ther on this link but you can see them if you google....a very under rated painter in my view and cant wait to see ware he lived...regards to you all..

He cheats Julie..only paints lines!.....hes good and catches the atmosphere of Manchesters industrial pass...like the way his simple drawings show the gloom of the working person.

Hi All
I love Lowry ! I have an original ! Called the Cripples. To be truthful it is an exact copy of the original, which I had done by a pavement artist many years ago. She was brilliant at copying anything on to a pavement, so having seen the original I asked if she could copy the Cripples. Originally I was going to place it in the old Orthopaedic Waiting area, but some of my committee members objected !!! So I kept it .

I also like Marine paintings of all sorts. I also like a chap called Michael Morgan, and the late Lionel Agett who lived near here. I also collect old maps and prints of wherever I am researching.

Lee, at the Great Hall, on the stairs to be precise.are William Hogarth paintings at Bart's. It is possible to view them by appt.

I seem to be drawn to artists who were Architects in a former life.

Hi All

Hope you wont mind me jumping on this thread but do any of you know anything about the Artist J Walton Burnett as we inherited a painting (watercolour) of his entitled Lunt Village, I was told by my late mum in law that the artist was staying at a relatives house in Lunt in the early part of last centuary when he painted it.

Gwen :)

Hi Julie

Thankyou I've had a look at that and it looks very promising, maybe this picture is by Jane as it is only signed J walton Burnett, I think I may have to go to an expert to find out more.

The picture shows a red brick house with a view down a country road,

Gwen :)

Hi Steve

Thanks for that, I'm just curious to know a little more about him, that site only shows a painting that they sold by him, but nothing else, I dont realy want to take out a subscription with them.

Gwen :)
Hi Gwen,

If you click on the picture in the link, it enlarges. Then you can check the 'style' and compare it to the one you have.

Steve.:)

Hi Steve

I have done that and it is very similar but the style could be copied from one to the other, will take it to an expert to find out if it is by James or Jane.

Thankyou all for your help.

Gwen :)
