Hello folks!

After several years of Family Tree Research I have only just, by 'accident', discovered this site. At present I feel rather lost as I have absolutely no idea of what I'm doing so beg a great deal of patience from you all. I don't mind if you laugh at my lack of 'Techiness' as I do have a great sense of humour!
My main Family interest has been with TRODDS for which I have gathered much information over the years. I am quite happy to share this information and hope to find some really close links amongst you.
Looking forward to future contacts,

Gemmas' pal

Hi Gemma's Pal,
welcome to the FHUK forums, it's great you found us, even if it was by accident ( hope you were un-injured:eek: ) We are one big happy family here and you will find us all very helpful and friendly, all you need to do is post your questions in the appropriate forum along with as much relevant information as you have, and we will try our best to find those illusive answers:) We hope you enjoy the FHUK forums and we wish you every success in your research welcome once again and we look forward to your post's best regards StericoO0

Thank you sterico!
No injuries and I feel I'm amongst friends already after the great 'welcome' message. Once I can find my way around I hope I can be of some help, probably only to TRODD seekers at first but am not averse to branching out!

Thank you Prefabkid! (should be Ardenkid!)
Not yet understanding this site but do understand how good these welcomes are; 'Welcome Smiley' is great! Trying to get around but confused by 'Post Reply', 'Reply with Quotes' and 'Multi Quotes'; can you please enlighten me?
My main reasearch: TRODDs. Will find DAVIS; I have an interest in DAVIES. So, any DAVIS brickwalls! A2 - what's that?! : )

Hi gemmas' pal

I'll stick with prefabkid,it shows my roots!

The nearest I've got to Arden is geofizzing (in true Time Team fashion) in the grounds of Arden House, with the local archaeological group.I've told my family that I'm not content with looking for their ancestors I'm now digging them up! >:D

As to the 'Post Reply'etc.,still getting my head round these,am sure someone will explain.

The Davis side of my family is my link to the East End (Hackney and Shoreditch)

Hi sml

I have a William Davis (b.1786) and George Davis (b.1860),but both of Shoreditch (my link with the East End).

All the family appeared to stay in the Shoreditch and Hackney areas, apart from one who ventured as far as Croydon (!) and another who emigrated to New York c.1924.

So I guess my Davis relations are not related to yours.
Does that mean they are not related to Gemmas' pal either?
Hi sml

Unfortunately it appears we have different Davis families.I have no Davis's, that I know, of living in Kent during the period of my research, ie up to the early 1900's.That's not to say they didn't move into the county later.

I see that gemmas' pal has Davies in her tree not Davis, unlike many of the family branches this branch seems to be fairly consistent in their spelling.

Hello Prefabkid & sml!

Have found that my Davies do at times become Davis! Isn't it hard enough having one or the other without the perishers using both? We've only just started research into this part of our family; already coming up with a mass of surprises!

Prefabkid, do you know anything more about your Davis who ventured to Croydon? My Davies family come from there! Prospect Place (for George Davies; Davis on 1861 census and born in Beddington c1821) & Handcroft Road in particular. Hope I can dig my ancestors up but not as literally as you!

sml: Don't give up on links! George and William are popular names in my Davies lot and I've only just started finding info on them. Already found more great aunts and uncles than we knew we had! Keep following this up as it could prove more interesting than we are yet aware! Any clues?

Thanks for that Gp.
If you come across any Davis menbers in the Langton Green and Speldhurst areas of Kent, let me know. There could be a good chance they are related to mine.
Regards, Sarah.

Hi gemmas' pal

I know a lot about the Davis who ventured to Croydon, she was Amy Beatrice Davis 1897-1977,my maternal grandmother.
She married Frederick Coomber 1898-1977 at Croydon Register Office and they lived Bredon Road,Addiscombe,Croydon.
The Coomber side of my family were mainly living in the Addiscombe and New Addington areas of Croydon and there were lots of them.
Are you on Genes Reunited,if so I could open my tree to you.
Regards
Ron

Hello /Prefabkid/Ron!

I am on GR. Find me there as I am here. Currently, I only have our West Meon Trodds entered into the tree. Hope to enter Davies and others fairly soon. I'd certainly be interested in viewing your tree as I may have picked up Davis info that could help you apart from possibility of links both ways!

Thank you Ron, will eagerly watch for a contact message!

Hello Ron,

Apologies for taking so long getting back to you.

I've checked my profile on GR and promise you that I am Gemmas' Pal (entered exactly as Gemmas' Pal). I did change my profile name as I suddenly started getting hundreds of scam emails for some reason I couldn't fathom out. I found this a bit worrying so changed the ID. Hasn't stopped those emails! To help in identifying you on GR; did you post a note regarding a Thomas Davis with you being Ron H.......?

I do look forward to accessing your tree as it will enable me to check any Davis information I might find as I hunt through my Davies folk.

Look forward to gaining that contact,

GP
