Reuben Bailey, is he a relative then?
Don't know Barbara.

Was hoping I could find a death with parents for Susan Hayward and prove Charles was a brother.

Baptism and parents for Charles was my original aim.

5x Charles with baptisms in 1804, all in different counties and not one in Staffordshire.

I'll resume this tomorrow after I return from State Library.

Charles Hayward, one of 150 convicts transported on the Sesostris, 23 November 1825
Crime: Breaking and entering and stealing
Convicted at: Stafford Assizes
Sentence term: Life
Ship: Sesostris
Departure date: 23rd Nov 1825
Arrival date: 21st Mar 1826
Place of arrival NSW
Date of Birth: 4th Jan 1804
Occupation: Saddler
Date of Death: 28th Sep 1883
Age: 79 years

I've tried FreeREG for 5 different counties with baptism from 1804 to 1807 and variations of Hayward and can't find a match to that dob.

Thanks Barbara.

No way of telling what county Charles was born in. Have not found any baptism records with a dob.

A hit for Susan Hayward in Trove in 1849 in Port Macquarie and then nothing. The next one is 1925 for a death in 1923 which has to be a different Susan.

I think we are stuck. I'll search the newspaper archive and see if the trial is mentioned.

Three hits 1810 - 1925 for Stafford Assizes and not the right Hayward.

Very little on-line for NSW convicts. Very different for VDL ones where you can get on-line ident listing native place, names of parents and siblings.

We really need the full ident record.
