Nans school report. 1932

My dad has been given a copy of his mums school report for 1932. I am awaiting an email copy of it. She was 10 in 1932. I cannot wait to see it. It will say what school she went to, although I think I have a good idea. This is in Rochford, Essex. Apparently she was quite clever.

Makes you wonder what family nik naks are stashed away in a rellies ottoman awaiting to be discovered.

It will help me locate her school records so I can find out when she left. She was born in May 1922. I estimate she left school in 1936.

1932 was 80 years ago nearly.

She died in June 2002 just a month after her 80th birthday. Come on dad, email me the copy of her school report. I am tearing my hair out here.:2fun::2fun::2fun::2fun::biggrin:

Carefull Benny.....you aint got much left anyway......my guess is she left aged 12.

Report just came through. It was Christmas term 1932 and she attended Rochford Council Girls & Infants School. She was neat and careful in the setting down of her work.

So she probably left school in 1934 then?

A lot depended on personal circumstance Benny......in poor family's they left a bit earlier to earn a living.......either 32/33/34 i would say.

She wed in 1944. The year before the war ended. I went to their 50th anniversary celebrations in 1994.

My school reports were all the same, except the date. And all the comments were, as Lee said.....'Could do better'.

My reply was.....'Could have better teachers'.....that got me the slipper on the butt.:2fun::2fun:

I just need to find which school was Rochford Council Girls And Infants School. There was a few schools in the town and surrounds.
