Hello. I am trying to find any descendants and/ information re my ancestor George Napper. My earliest finding re him is his marriage to Elizabeth Forbinch (widow nee Eldridge) 7 Apr 1752. Some records state at St Pancras, Chichester, some say St Peter-the-Great or Subdeanery. His children were George (No2) b 1760, Charles bJan 1764 (my forebear whose name was spelt Napier when joining the Royal Navy Oct 1776. Other siblings were George (No1) b1759 (died infancy), Elizabeth b1752, and possibly Sarah & Martha.
George’s (the earlier one) occupation on marriage was given as Sexton (my understanding is that at that time a sexton could have been a church or a minor municipal official). There was a George Napper buried at All Saints Chichester 11 Jun 1775, occupation Town Sergeant. Same person…???
I would be very pleased if any Nappers or Napiers or side branches via female lines, have any information or connections which may be of interest. Does anyone know of an old Family Bible for example going back into that period, or earlier , or of anyone doing genealogical research or other historical research which may expand my knowledge?
