Hi All,

I have recently come across this web-site. It is still in the transcription stage, but eventually I'm sure it will be a very useful site for those of us with ancestors who come from Yorkshire. I'm hoping that eventually I'll uncover more information about my Pawson family, who were from the Wibsey, Green Hammerton area.

In the mean time I am hoping some of you may find it interesting for a look, whether your ancestors are from Yorkshire or not, as there are a few work commission transcriptions on there with quotes from child labourers in mines and foundrys. This can be found under the miscellaneous tab along with the beginnings of the medical notes from the local doctor! It's fascinating reading and paints an overall picture of challenging times for kids.

Cheers,
Jill
