Hi I'm Joy and live in Northumberland. I have been researching my Family Tree for 4 years now since I retired. Have also done some transcribing for Kent Family History Society which is where I originate from. Would like some help with looking for my husband's grandfather who was a coastguard in Grimsby in 1911 - anyone know of a list of coastguards for this area. Thanks Joy
hello Joy & welcome to the site, have you tried googling for coastguards? I am sure there must be websites dedicated to this occupation. :)
Hello Joy. I can look up Grimsby marriages for the Grandfather you are looking for. if that is any use to you?

Re: from Joy

Hi Sheila,
Thanks for your offer to look up marriages in Grimsby. I do have his marriage certificate - marriage in Gravesend but son born in Grimsby in 1911. I am trying to find his place of birth so was hoping for a coastguard register - have googled coastguards but nothing in particular for Grimsby. Thanks anyway Joy
Re: New member Joy re Coastguards

Hi Steve - thanks for the coastguard website. I had spotted it and unfortunately couldn't see anything for Grimsby coastguards as far as I could tell. I was hoping to find my John William Hammond in the 1911 census but his name didn't come up in a search - his son was certainly born in Grimsby in 1911. Regards Joy
Hi Joy,
I'm not sure if this may be any use, but have found a William John Hammond as a member of a crew Royal navy.

1901 census.

Aged 20. b.1881 The ship appears to be called 'Monarch'.
