Newis and Marsh in Somerset

New to your website.
A thread commenced 12 Dec.,2012, initiated by DaveHam9, titled "Newis and Marsh in Somerset" relating to inquiries and replies for Charles Newis and Sarah Ann Marsh. Information relates to Sarah - daughter of Richard and Sarah, census inquiries for 1841 and 1851; & death of Charles at Prospect, N.S.W., in 1882.
Charles & Sarah are my g/g/gnd parents. I have been researching the Newis and Pond families for many years, and despite extensive searching of census and other records, I remain unable to determine Sarah Ann Marsh's parents. I have two possible Sarah Marsh birth dates, in Somerset, in 1835 & 1837. And, I have two possible fathers - Richard Marsh, which is supported by the Sarah Hay death record, that shows Richard as her father; and James, that is supported by an 1841 census record, immigration record, & Sarah's second marriage. To complicate this, I have found multiple James Marsh census records, with daughters named Sarah.
Marriage/s for Charles Newis have proved to be a difficult task. Perhaps there was more than one Charles Newis.
* 1855 - Ann Welch to Charles Newis (father,Robert)
* 1856 - Sarah Ann Marsh to Charles Newis
* 1857 - Sarah Ann Marshall to Charles Newis
I have determined that Charles' father was Robert Newis; Charles' mother was Mary. But I have two possible "Marys"; was she Mary Hopkins, or was she Mary Best?
I have extensive information on Charles Newis and Robert Newis, with associated census records.
Similarly, I have extensive information on both James Marsh & Richard Marsh, both with similar family member names, & both in Somerset.
Other than a possibility that Robert Newis' father was Thomas (1761), and his mother Joan Scott (1766), I have no other information about the family prior to Robert.
Further recorded research can be provided if necessary, as I have endeavoured to abbreviate this inquiry.
Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks Robert
