Enlisted - S/N 95 3rd Qld. Mounted Infantry - Corporal 12 Apr 1900 - Severely wounded at Eland's R. 6 Aug 1900 - Invalided to Australia arrived 10 Dec 1900 - Mentioned in Despatches London Gazette 27 Sep 1901 Distinguished Conduct Medal - Sergeant Doyle's Scouts, KSA & 2 clasps.

Sometime after this Norman returned to South Africa and was married 9 Oct 1902 ?? in Durban to Ethel Mary YOUNG who was born in England and may have been a widow at the time of their marriage. Ethel Mary died in 1958. ?? It is also possible they had a daughter Ethel Mary who married Thomas Sydney Osbourne in 1962. ??
