Seems to be no baptism for a William in Rothwell around 1793 on FS or FreeREG.

At this stage I have no idea if Jane is a sister.

Also don't know if this is a sibling to an Eleanor DEVINE born abt 1793 Holborn:

County Middlesex
Place Bethnal Green
Church St Matthew Tr
RegisterNumber
DateOfBirth 13 Feb 1790
BaptismDate 07 Mar 1790
Forename Mary Elizabeth
*** F
FatherForename John
MotherForename Mary Elizabeth
FatherSurname DEVINE
MotherSurname
Abode
FatherOccupation
Notes
FileNumber 15988

Pity the 1819 marriage between William ESSEX and Eleanor DEVINE does not list the father of either.

I'm stuck. No help from the marriage re father's name and no baptism for either. Not going to find siblings born 1790 - 1800 together in 1841 with parents.

If a tree is correct then Eleanor was baptised at Holborn St Andrews.

Thanks Geoff.

That's the first indication we were not dealing with a family that originated in St Botolph Without Aldersgate.

1861 has St Andrews for Eleanor and 1851 has Holborn so that would agree. Next question is did the tree author actually find a baptism at Holborn St Andrews? If so, then we should get her father's name.

Looking at this latest tree, that couple allegedly had 2 Williams' that had d. by 1793...

Strange that there's not even a suggestion in FREG/FS

There are some contributed records on IGI for a John and Catherine, but not very convincing and no William

Yes, missing a lot in FS and FreeREG.

Still lots of descendants and their spouse to look at.

Next one is this one:

Richard George Essex b. 22 Nov 1823
Christening Date: 3 Apr 1831 St. Botolph Without Aldersgate, London
William Essex & Eleanor
Batch: C022383

So I'll start a census topic for him.
