Northumberland Militia 1801

Hi all
I have a birth certificate indicating the father's occupation as Norththumberland Militia, Shambles Barracks Leeds in 1801. I have had no luck finding info either on the militia or the barracks. The Norhtthumberland Fusiliers museum couldn't assist and the National Archives were vague and not very enlightening. Anybody able to assist or advise? Cheers
