Nurse Susan Wilson

I have acquired a WWI autograph book which belonged to a Nurse Susan Wilson, who was working at the Southern General Hospital in Edgbaston, Birmingham (ran out of the University) certainly during 1916-17, possible before/after.

I do not know her middle initial or DOB or where she lived, so Ancestry is proving a little useless due to the fairly common name! I have contacted the Red Cross archives, as I believe she was a VAD nurse, but there is no record of her there (they have informed me that their records are incomplete). There is a postcard with a photograph of a nurse slotted into the album, but I have no way of knowing if it is truly her.

Does anyone have any advice for pursuing information on a WWI nurse when these avenues are exhausted?
