Lieutenant Vernon Douglas Hodge OBE my relative. Could someone tell me please the reason why Vernon was awarded the OBE? I know he died on 27th February 1942 serving on H.M.S Jupiter.

Thank you.

I do know about his parents and the Plymouth memorial where he is remembered. Thank you.

m Vernon Douglas Hodge, O.B.E. 1 Apr

Don't know what the 'm' is.

https://www.wrecksite.eu/wreck.aspx?16012

HODGE, VERNON DOUGLAS, Lieutenant (E), Royal Navy, Son of Benjamin Albert May Hodge and Lucy Amelia Penhale Hodge; husband of Mabel Hodge, of Peverell, Plymouth, Memorial: Plymouth Naval Memorial 46 27/02/1942

It should be listed in London Times. I can't search at the moment.

Thank you Dave, I do know about the wrecksite link. I don't know what 'm' you are referring to. I can't see any reference to this in my message. Can you explain please?
I was asking if anyone could tell me the reason why Vernon was awarded the OBE.

From a Facebook reply:
Lieutenant.- Vernon Douglas Hodge R.N., H.M.S Escapade. CBE
Commander of the Order of the British Empire. The newspaper where the information came from was; The Scotsman 11 July 1940 page 6 Article. I am sorry but I couldn't find out the reason why he received the OBE.
