Hello,
I would like to obtain my grandmothers medical records. She died 30 years ago therefore i assume with the 100 year closure on them, it would make it near impossible to get them. Has anyone applied for and recieved medical records whilst still within the closure dates?

Hi Gibbo

I am also interested in the same things but I do think that there is a closure rule. I think it is only if it is an urgent medical query that you can access them.

I want to access my great, great grandmothers hospital records as she died in 1943 in Archway Hospital, London. I want to find out how long she was in there but I will probably be turned away due to the century closure rule. I may have to wait until I am 61 in 2043 to access them.

Hi,

My grandmother died in 1988 so i still another 79 years to wait. I will then be about 125 when i can get them. Needless to say they wont be of much use to me then!!! I wanted them for 2 reasons, one for any family inherited illnesses and also my grandmother was suposed to have had another child that we cant find. There is no birth record etc, so she may have lost it or then again it could have been a story passed down that was untrue and i was hoping if we could get her medical records it may have something in them. I guess all we can do is try.
