There are many people out there that have little or no idea how to research family history -
Where to go, what to ask, what websites to visit, no idea what a probate record is!

If you do and believe like we do, that sharing and imparting knowledge is a great reward for helping people - then we would like to hear from you.

Family History UK is getting known out there and need fairly knowledgeable people to help here on the website.

If you think you fit the 'bill' - please contact us,

Regards,

Hi
I have just joined this site, and I think I am going to enjoy using it.
I am by no means an expert in family hgistory, but having researched my own family & my late hudbands family, have gained a fair bit of experience over the years (since 1993)

I am willing to help anyone if I can, I am a member of Ancestry UK so can offer help to anyone seeking information from the various census contained on there

Dear Dave,
Hello, LOVE the site, think it's great!! :)
If anybody out there needs a little help with anything, I'd be glad to try and help. Can't promise to be much use but it will keep me out of mischief! >:D
Whilst I'm here, can I just ask - why are the boxes on my profile orange and yours green? Will I get green boxes when I grow up? Why was I a newbie but now (overnight it seems) I am a junior space cadet (or whatever). What am I doing that is increasing my status? Will I be able to take over the world one day if I keep helping people research? Is it time to renew my prescription for those little blue pills? Am I really as old as my photo would have you believe? Sorry, too many questions - must go and lie down for a while!

Thanks,

Dawn

Hi sicknote,

Welcome to the community site, hope you enjoy yourself :)

Not really knowing what stage of your research you are at, I would suggest looking at the Genealogy FAQ section and read the various sections to get you started.

When you are "stuck", come back here and post a message stating what the problem is or where you are stuck. There are some great knowledgable people on the community forum ready and willing to help you.

All the best,:)
Dave

Hi Hurdon thank you for your kind offer - you can start with my lot

Coll lamont and his wife Mary Currie from Isaly packed up their off spring Mary, Gilbert, Donald, janet and Flora and toddled off to Saugeen.

Whatever you can find will be appreciated

Thanks Iz

I am willing to go to cemeterys and use censis to do lookups. We have many places to use for helping others. I have a family History centre right near my house that I could do lookups there.

If people need lookups done please ask them to write names aproximate dates, town and province. It will make it easier to look things up in Canada.

If you have relatives in Canada or that Moved to Canada I will get addresses as well. Hurdon

It is great to see other people that can help you find a path, I have only started recently digging on my mothers father side that died when she was 4,
I join ancestry.com for both the us and uk and with the help of others so far I not only have all my grandfather brothers and sister names but his parents, a copy of his certificate of birth, just this week i sent off for a copy of his parents marriage certicate which I hope will help me find their dates of birth. It won't be long before I will be stuck again and I will be asking for help on where to go next. Soooooo thank you for being here,

I'd like to know too pwease.

As to offers of help... If anyone has any Cornwall, England, ancestors I'd be happy to try and help... especially St Ives. I live in Redruth at the moment, so can visit the Records Centre there; can visit cemetaries anywhere between here and St Ives if anyone needs any photos of gravestones etc. There is a great archive centre in St Ives, Cornwall, which has newspaper archives for the town, burial lists for Barnoon Cemetary, family files, etc. Just let me know if you need any help. I may not be able to find anything, but will certainly do my best.

This is a great site :)

Happy hunting everyone
Rebecca :)
