Hi Sue,
I too have had massive problems with the Irish links of my first wife and ended up giving up....maybe I'll try again sometime:kissu:

Could you possibly help me. I'm looking for my grandfather James William Baron or Barron who was, I believe, born somewhere in the Derbyshire area. Mum seems to remember a place called Norton. She thinks he was born around 1900 and she remembers her grandad being called Percy.

Any help would be appreciated.

Pat

hi leefer, general consensus in the family is belfast, but when i have tried to trace him , they want the county ie antrim or armagh and apparently it depends on which side of lough neagh you are born on,did get some sites of the guys but no go , plus the fact that i have never even attempted irish geneology i just feel totally out of my depth.i got his marriage certif for his fathers name and lo and behold its edward willis so no help.i know its a nightmare, probs is he is a total enigma in our family nothing is known about his life before he came to hartlepool , he was living in ward end in birmingham in 1945 and then must have met my mother in law and they got married here in hartlepool in 1945.you think i could still order the certif even if im not sure were he was born.thanks suexx

Hi Susan, Thanks for the reply. I've been doing a bit of digging around and here is what I have. Grandad was called James William Barron but my mother said she had seen correspondence that had him as Barren also. Mum reckoned he came from around the Sheffield area coz he kept talking about it. Maybe a place called Ecclesall or similar.(not sure where Norton comes into it but Mum recalls this place somewhere in her past!!) His wife was called Alice Laura Spall who came from Ipswich. Grandads father was called Percy Henry or Henley and his wife was called Emma Jane (believed to be Heart or Hart).

James William died in Ipswich between 1975-1985, sorry can't be more specific. His wife died in Ipswich in the 1960's.

Thanks.
Pat

Hi AA,
I would love it if you could help with my family history. I did join a couple of the online sites but I'm afraid my patience got the better of me and I came to a standstill. I could send you details of what I have so far (although I'm not even sure if I've got that right!) It really is a generous offer from you, are you sure you want to take it on?
Regards
Pat

Hi,

Could be Thomas in 1861. His place of birth is Willesden (transcribed as Wellesden)

Civil parish St Pancras
RD Pancras
Sub RD Tottenham Court

Thomas Chapman age 22 u/m occ shopman born Willesden

One of Thomas and Elizabeths childrens births certificates will have the mothers maiden name, once you have this you can then look for the marriage and obtain the marriage certificate, which will then give the fathers name and occupation.
