Oldest ancestor in a village at a time (or one of them)

Hi

My great, great, great grandfather William Wilson was aged 82 in 1901 living in the village of Eldon in Durham. By then he had been retired for about 15 years. He was an ex miner. He was one of the two oldest residents of that village. A John Anderson was also the same age as William.

William died on the 27th April 1902 at 24 Halls Row, Eldon. I would have thought at 83, he would have been quite well respected in the small village due to being over 80 when he died wouldn't you agree?

Hi Leefer

I think he lived in Eldon for the last 5 or 6 years of his life. He is with one of his other daughters Catherine Bellas (nee Wilson) in the nearby village of St Helen Auckland in 1891 which is the village he lived in all his life up until about 1896ish when he was about 75.

He was living in Eldon with his married daughter Mary Currey (nee Wilson) in 1901. His other daughter Catherine died in 1898.
