Was John a Tailor, by any chance?

Geoff
Dunno Geoff.

The Sydney Morning Herald - Monday 28 May 1860 p.1
MARRIAGES
On the 17th May, by Special License, at St. James' Church, by the Rev. H. Morton, Mr. Thomas OLLIFFE, to Kate, third daughter of Mr. J. B. OLLIFFE, Surry Hills.

If I can find that on film at the Mitchell Library it may have parents and occupations.

Ha. Here is one from same church a few years later with parents but no occupations.

Sarah Ann Dixon Spinster England - 28 Balmain William & Mary Thwaites - Dixon -

The ads in the Catholic newspaper in Sydney for 1856 for John are in relation to election committee members.

The only one in NZ birth index is Henry.

NSW and one I can't look up

OLIFFE ANN 2967/1852 V18522967 141 JOHN ELLEN

??
Death OLLIFFE ANN 988/1893 UNKNOWN UNKNOWN SYDNEY

That is a church record and unlikely to be Baptist so not a birth reg but a baptism. Date in index is year of birth with pob usually not recorded. So date of baptism could be same year or years later. Could be born NZ and baptised NSW.

I have some born England and baptised NSW.

I may be able to get a date from that record but it could take months via email to BDM.

This list from Tribal Pages is interesting, info would require validating..

There is a Benjamin Joseph b. c1844 and John c1845 Russell, Bay of Islands, NZ - Same place as Henry 1849. Also a possible for Catherine [Kate].

HERE

Thanks Geoff.

Interesting. I've been to Russell, the original capital of NZ.

Can't see a reg for Kate as Catherine/Katherine in NSW index 1838 - 1845.

This family might take the rest of 2016 to sort out.

Will have to check the deaths and hope parents are listed.

Time to eat so back in 1 hour and then I'll start searching for death reg.

A death for Abraham? Not in Qld., NSW, Vic., or NZ index. He may not fit this family.

Still can't find a death in 1932 for Ann/Anna.
