I have been trying to locate Frank Norman Headicar in the 1939 register - found one in Chelsea which is a possible.
On Ancestry Electoral rolls there are 2 for 1939, one at 197 Burnt Ash Hill and the other at 47 Elystan Place (this is the Chelsea one)
But the Burnt Ash Hill one appears to be missing but what with all the scribble on the page plus the fact that they jump all over, I suspect it got missed.

I am now coming to the conclusion that both the Electoral roll references are for the same person, one with his wife and the other his daughter!( a problem person 3 marriages etc)

Peter ( suffering register withdrawal)

Just found the 197 Burnt Ash Hill by looking for wife's name - age makes this a son with same name!

This Frank Norman Headicar is taking some twists and turns as I have just found an earlier marriage to Marion Louise Savage 1880 to 1915 so that's 3 times married.
No wonder its taking so much effort what with all the relatives popping up every where!

yep Peter, the plot thickens..
Been trying to find Emily with father Frank in 1939 but not having much luck.. Emily Gertrude nee ? was living with him and wasn't his sister...

Looking at 1901 census for Frank Norman Headicar b 1878 to William & Elizabeth, Frank’s living with his father William aged 63 b Scotland a carpenter a widow, age 23 a Barrister’s clerk, there is no Emily/Gertrude (b 19 Jan 1894) living with them. So big question is who was this Emily Gertrude…

Finally found Frank on 1911 which has:
Frank age 36 b Greenwich a Barristers clerk with wife Marion Louisa age 29 b Reading, married 6 yrs with son Hubert John age 3 b Wandsworth and a dom servant Florence Edith Marshall age 25 at 3 Trefoil Road, Wandsworth.

Hubert John Headicar b March qtr 1908 Wandsworth - died 30 Nov 1947 – Probate
HEADICAR – Hubert John of 8 Delta Court Coles Grean road Dollis Hill London NW2 died 30 November 1947 at Preston Hall Hospital Aylesford Kent. Administration (with Will) London 15 March to Mary Teresa Headicar widow – effects 691pounds 6s 9d – he’s on Findagrave as Bombardier Hubert J Headicar

Hubert John Headicar married Mary Teresa Gregory Sept qtr 1935 Blean Vol 2a page 3640 and they had Ann CM b in June qtr 1936 and Anthony JG b Dec qtr 1941.

Which means that wife no2 - Annie Mayes would have had to look after Hubert as well as her own 6 children with Frank and then Frank had another child with wife no 3 Phyllis Blanchard – Peter in 1926 and of which Phyllis would have had to look after most of the children from previous marriage (after Annie’s death in 1923) – so in all Frank had 8 children plus 2 registered under his name but not his…

Val

I must say that following this line although not directly related has been fun, perhaps due to the unusual surname and leading to quite a few marriages and offspring.
Frank Norman Headicar seems to have led a fairly eventful life although some of the links are not easy to find due to I suspect the unusual surname(not one I have come across before)

I will have to do some more digging as its much more productive than my family:biggrin:

More thickening?
There are 3 births for Headicar with mother as Mayes
Margaret C Headicar Sep Q 1927 Croydon
Cecil Headicar Sep Q 1929 Chelsea
Richard Headicar Dec Q 1933 Chelsea

Electoral Rolls :-
1933 Chelsea - Frank & Gertrude
1950 Chelsea - Gertrude & Margaret
1952 Chelsea - Emily G ,Cecil & Margaret
1954 Chelsea - Emily G & Cecil
1956 Chelsea - Emily g, Cecil & Richard

So far no trace of marriage of Frank to another Mayes.

Peter

Found Gertrude Emily Mayes born mar q 1893 St Pancras and she is the sister of Annie M Mayes

I can only surmise that Frank N Headicar left Phyllis Headicar(Blanchard) to set up shop with Gertrude Emily Mayes and as Phyllis was still living he couldn't marry Gertrude but had 3 children - seems to be he was quite a lad!
