Hi, hoping someone can help me.

I am looking for passenger list information from the ship Oronsay believed to have arrived in Australia 22 March 1926, not sure where - Melbourne - Sydney or Queensland.

My grandmother Hannah Jane Jones was on board with her parents - Jonathon and Mary Jane Jones and siblings sister Gwladys May and brother Brynmore Jonathon Jones. They were coming from Wales but don't know where they departed from.

Thanks, Lyn

Hello Joan,

Live links to NAA don't work. The session times out.

Can't see the children with the initials H J, G M and B J. Perhaps they are all too young to be listed.

The names may not appear common but it's still not easy to pick the right birth reg to get some ages.

Thanks Dave, That explains it..:confused:redf)
I have found the ship arriving in Fremantle on the right date,NAA,
and it contains quite a few Jones, but $16.50 to access the shipping list from there.
I know there's another way to the 1920's migration lists, I've just got to rack my brains to remember where i found it before..
short term memory loss:eek::2fun:

Thanks dave.

That makes more sense with the right initials.

G L instead of G M.

Off the NAA site:
That's curious: Incoming passenger list "Ormonde" arrived Fremantle 9 March 1926

Port of embarkation Port of disembarkation Date of arrival
London Brisbane 09 Mar 1926
JONES, J Mr
JONES, M J Mrs
JONES, H J Miss
JONES, G L Miss
JONES, B Mstr

Note: Many ships bound for the eastern Australian states passed through Fremantle. The Fremantle passenger lists include all those passengers who disembarked in Fremantle. They often also include all other passengers who travelled further on the same ship and disembarked in other Australian or overseas ports.

I'd say 9 March is the arrival in Fremantle.

Thank you, thank you, this was the missing link, we had the info in Wales and then in Australia but not the bit in between. I could give you all a big hug!!!!!!!:D Thank you especially to davelambert271 and DaveHam9 for the census records as we couldn't get into these from Sydney, Australia. We have been looking for this info for the 4 years.

Thank you, Lyn
