Orphanages 1850 - 1910

Does anyone know if there was EVER a national listing of all the orphanages in this country between those years?

My instinct says no, but one never knows.

Ellie, thanks for the link, - sadly because I'm not the most computer literate person, I've waded through some of the pages and failed to come up with anything that helps. I'll keep trying though as the whole web-site looks like a mine of information.

Some-one has suggested Dr Barnardo's - I've found their Head Office address but does anyone know if they would ever have had a central record keeping system?
