hi again
thank you for all your help so far but i am stuck again

i am still looking at the children of Francis O'Neill and Christina Fraser

I am looking for the spouse of Owen O'Neill (b 1855 Dumfries, Scotland)
i have found two conflicting names for his spouse both Catherine McDonnell and or Catherine Breenan

i believe Owen went to live perhaps once wife had passed, with is daughter mary-ann wasley in england and may of passed away in 1921 in Ince in Makerfield England

Next - is Rose Anne O'Neill who i think married William Giffen - i would like a place of death for her and William (just for confirmation that the information i have is correct)
i think she may of died in 1922 but i am not sure where

Next is Andrew O'Neil aged 10yrs in the census 1861 census - does he have a spouse and family

Next is Francis O'Neil did he pass away in 1868 aged 9yrs

i am quite happy to help our anyone who is researching any of the same lines as i am which include
Gutsell, Harpur, Hayes, Kirkland, O'Neill, Butler, Hoare, Emery, Hazlett, Reed, Winwood, Saunders, Cox, Allport, and i need a lot of help with Petarum/Peteram -all of these families ended up in new Zealand Tasmania or Australia :)

any help is appreciated

I'd check that you are researching the correct Owen O'neill.

Owen O'Neill son of Francis O'neill and Christina Fraser was born 2 November 1854 in Dundee, Forfarshire (Angus) and baptised there 5 December 1854. Image of the baptism entry on fmp.
Owen is in Dundee with his parents in the 1861/71and 81 Censuses. Mother Christina dies 1863 and father Francis re married 1873 to a Bridget Briarty.

In 1881 when Owen son of Francis and Christina is in Dundee there is an Owen O'Neil born 1855 in Scotland, in Wigan with wife Catherine and children. It looks like this Owen married Catherine MacDonnel in Wigan in 1869 when he was just 15 but the marriage certificate would confirm or deny this. The GRO ref is June 1869 Wigan 8c 111

Until you are certain exactly which Owen is yours, there is not much point in searching any further.

yes emeltee -thanks for you reply :) there is a lot of confusion - which makes it hard to find the correct information - i would presume that the owen who was born in 1881 - is from a different generation -so the one i am trying to find is -the one born in 1855or there abouts

i think francis and and christina had two sons called owen - the first one died at birth in 1850 the second one was 6 yrs in the 1861 census
they may of also had two sons named andrew - the first one died in infancy in 1850 the second one was 10ys in the 1861 census

where did you find the second marriage for francis - i am not sure of the abrev you have used "fmp" and "GRO"

i look forward to hearing back from you and thank you so much for all your help

If you read post#2 carefully you will see that i did state that the Owen O'Neill who is in Wigan in the 1881 Census was born in Scotland in 1855. At no point did I say he was born in 1881. The point I was trying to make is that you appear to have two Owen O'Neills born c1855 both appearing in the 1881 Census, therefore you are looking at two different Owen O'Neills.

The Owen O'Neill son of Francis and Christina is in Dundee with his father and stepmother so he cannot be the Owen O'Neill who is in Wigan with wife Catherine and children. Also the Owen O'Neill who died in Wigan in 1921 was born 1850.

There is a death on Scotlandspeople which matches with the Owen O'Neill born in Dundee in 1854
Owen O'Neill 1907 St Clement aged 54 (yob1855) mother's maiden name Fraser. (St Clement is a Registration District in Dundee)
The reference for the above entry is 282/3/241
