I am trying to locate information re: Mary Ann Stock born 1827.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Steve,

I had already tried the seax one but it just says that the record are to fragile to be viewed, so not a lot of help, and I am unlikly to ever be able to visit the record office at Chelmsford.I seem to be having the same problem with a lot of my other Essex relatives which is realy frustrating :( :'(

The Great Waltham is more for todays news, so I think I am stuck on this side of the tree now, but will keep trying as new records could turn up :)

Gwen :)

Thank you for your kind help

Hi Gwen

I am researching the Stock family from Finchingfield, not far from Great Waltham.

Ben
HI Ben,

This is looking more and more likly that we are distantly related, Mary married George Burr born 1821 at High Easter, Essx and their daughter Charlotte born 1848 at Great Waltham married James Reeve born 1849 and their daughter Sarah Reeve born 1877 at Little Dunmow was mother to my grandmother Nellie Chapman born 1901,

I have just confirmed the names on this line with a elderly aunt yesterday but she is vague about exact names and dates. and has no knowledge of more distant times.

Thanks for your valuable help Ben.

Gwen :kissu: :) :)

Hi Gwen

Yes, mine and your ancestors came from what seems to be the same areas of Oxfordshire and Essex.

My ancestor was Henry Stock born in 1843 in Finchingfield, son of John and Charlotte Stock nee Perry. John was born in 1806 in Finchingfield to Samuel Stock and his wife Elizabeth nee Suckling.

Hi Gwen

A lot of Sucklings came from Norfolk. I am trying to establish the connection in mine as I have only got back to a Martin Suckling who wed Mary Willis in 1761 in Finchingfield.

I am sure that we are distantly related cousin Gwen.

Hi Ben

Have you come accross any Medes in Finchingfield as I have a Sarah Mede born 1816 in Finchingfield She married Jane Chapmans father William born 1810, who was the son of Thomas Chapman born 1781 and Sarah ? born 1783, I cant get this back any more at the moment, I just hope that one day we will be able to view parish records for the area on line one day.

Gwen.:) :)

Hi Gwen

I have not yet come across any Medes in Finchingfield yet. They might be on the 1841 or 1851 censuses though.

HI Ben,

Sarah Mede died in 1848, so will only be on 41 census,
Can I ask you a very big favour ? if you do find anything out about any of these families can you let me know as I find it difficult to get my tree back any further now as I am unable to visit Chelmsford where all the parish records are for the areas I am interested in.

Thank you so much Ben.

Gwen :) :)

Hi Gwen

I will look out for you. I live quite a way from Chelmsford but hope to go there sometime and do my Essex research.
