Patrick martin of fermanagh north ireland

im trying to find out who my great great great grandfathers parents & siblings where.
All i know is my great x3 grandfather was Patrick martin b. circa 1798 in either fermanagh, maguiresbridge or enniskillen and died in 1871 in Inglewood victoria australia. He married Jane Bleakley in circa 1824 in maguiresbridge and arrived in Australia about 1857 minus his wife.

Also trying to find out about my great great grandmother Margaret cassidy b. circa 1830 in enniskillen i think and married patricks son john in 1853 in fermanagh and arrived in australia on The Queen of the North. Her parents where james cassidy and rose breslin. Love to know more about her parents and siblings.

Cant seem to find any info on either parents (patrick or janes) or siblings online

The tithe applotment records list a Patrick Martin farming in Corrard townland in 1833. So that probably is your family. It was the only Martin farm in the townland at the time.

There was no Martin farm there in Griffiths Valuation for 1862, so that ties in with their having arrived in Australia in 1857.

Corrard is a mile or so from Maguiresbridge just off the Drumgoon Rd. It’s in Aghalurcher RC parish. Their baptism records start in 1835. They have no marriages before 1864. However you should be able to find the children’s baptisms. I can see Charles baptism there on 6.2.1842. You can search for the others. They are on Ancestry and also free on the NLI site:

There was a Martin farm in Corrard in the 1901 & 1911 census. Could be related to your family or it might just be a coincidence:

Looking at the land revaluation records, the farm was plot 5 in Corrard. (There were only 5 houses in the townland at the time). It was a 25 acre farm. The records show the Martin family acquiring it in 1902, though that’s clearly not quite right as they are there in the 1901 census. Previous occupant was a James Bell. House is initially in Philip Martin’s name but that changes to Hugh Martin in 1907. The family bought the freehold of the farm around that time too, under the Land Act. (Government mortgage for 25 years). It remained in Hugh Martin’s name in 1929 when that series of records finishes.

Yes it’s fairly typical for research in Ireland in the early 1800s. There aren’t that many records to search. You seem slightly unlucky though. The 1821 census for part of Aghalurcher has survived, but unfortunately it doesn’t include Corrard.

Im definately thinking hugh and patrick where brothers. Would be great to figure out who there parents where though and any other siblings
