In 1911 Walter and Mary are living in Tilbury. Walter is 56, a Labourer, born Birmingham. He and Mary have been married 38 years

Walter Perks/Mary Brian Mar 1873 Kensington 1a 247

There are two possible births for Walter in the Birmingham area

Mar 1855 Birmingham 6d 34 mmn Brown
Mar 1855 Aston 6d 255 mmn Waring

Thanks Emeltee.

Also Dec Qtr 1852. I found all three in 1871 with the three occupations I listed.

Any occupation on the 1873 marriage?

Looking at middle names no Brown or Waring - Helen Rebecca, Amy Louise, Walter Harry, Lily Mary, Ray Walter, William Victor

Unfortunately all I can find is the GRO Ref for the marriage.

The Walter Perks born 1852 died 1854 aged 1 so forget about him

The 1861 Census has 2 Walter Perks bor Birmingham 1855. One is living in Birmingham with parents William and Jane. William is a Steel Pen Tool Maker. The other is living in Warwick with parents William and Anne. William is a Hatter.

Checking the mmn on the GRO site William and Jane's children have mmn Brown and those of William and Anne have mmn Waring. Doesn't help much but thought you might like to know!

Thanks Emeltee.

Neither of those mmn has helped as neither appears as a middle name for any descendants found so far.

There is also this one in 1871 but have not found him in 1861.

Walter H Perks
Event Type Census
Event Date 1871
Event Place Handsworth, Staffordshire, England
Enumeration District 14
Gender Male
Age 19
Marital Status Unmarried
Occupation Architect
Relationship to Head of Household Son
Birthplace Birmingham, Warwickshire
Entry Number 7
Affiliate Image Identifier GBC/1871/2972/0051
Thomas Perks Head M 54 Birmingham, Warwickshire
Elizabeth Perks Wife F 53 Shropshire
Mary Perks Daughter F 27 Birmingham, Warwickshire
William E Perks Son M 26 Birmingham, Warwickshire
Elizabeth B Perks Daughter F 24 Birmingham, Warwickshire
Alfred L Perks Son M 21 Birmingham, Warwickshire
Walter H Perks Son M 19 Birmingham, Warwickshire
Florence Perks Daughter F 16 Birmingham, Warwickshire
George S Fearnie Visitor M 23 Birmingham, Warwickshire
Dinah Gibson Servant F 23 Kirby, Leicestershire
Emma Guise Servant F 26 Stratford-On-Avon, Warwickshire

Age and occupation would seem to rule him out however a son and grandson of the Walter I'm tracing had middle initial H. In no records found so far did Walter born abt 1855 show any middle initial.

Re 1873 marriage: Walter was a bachelor ? (was he a widower?) and Mary a spinster. Also he was a minor and she was full age.

No, I mean how can that NZ one fit in.

The one who died in 1980 is the son of the one who died 1955 who is the son of the one in 1911 census.

PERKS, FLORENCE - EDWARDS
GRO Reference: 1854 J Quarter in ASTON Volume 06D Page 307

Ok, that family in post #25 with the Architect aged 19 is not connected as far as I can see unless Thomas and William are brothers.

Any occupation for that Walter in NZ?

I'm thinking that this one

Deaths Sep Qtr 1875
PERKS Walter 19 Birmingham 6d 20

is the one in Warwickshire in 1871 and not the one in London in 1871.

Hence I think the 'groom' is the one we are tracing.
