Phyllis Tanner and Jack Dawson family

I'm trying to find out information on my 2nd great aunt Phyllis Patricia Tanner family in particular her husband Jack (or John) Dawson both born in 1909 they married in 1928.

They had 2 kids Charles and John, there is a third child Margaret (1939) but I have doubts over if Jack was her dad as when Phyllis was pregnant with her Jack left with both sons and headed North (at the time they lived in Aldershot)

I have recorded quite a bit about Margaret and Phyllis since 1939 I am slowly finding that out. I know Margaret got married in the 1950s as for Phyllis have information from family she remarried but I can't find divorce or any other marriage information.

What I want to do is find Jack and the 2 boys. I am at a loss to where to start as very unsure where they went I have a few bits that mention Mansfield but from research there are links to Yorkshire too.

Now I was trying the 1939 register over the weekend with Ancestry being free but had little luck.

I really want to complete this as would be great to write on it for my family.

Theres another marriage in 1973 for daughter Maragret. It dosen’t help that John has no middle name as per the marriage.

The only marriage I can find for a Phyllis P Dawson is in 1973 to Robert G Strong. The death registration for this lady (I think) is Phyllis Patricia Strong 2001 Dorest, year of birth 1902 The death is also recorded under Dawson. There is a death for a Phyllis P Dawson 1949 Surrey, year of birth 1911.

I only found one to Michael J Hunter in 1958.

Yeah no middle names for them is a pain.

Phyllis birth registration was 1910. The other lady born 1902 I think was Phyllis Patricia Moser.

Yeah, the Phyllis I have is a Tanner at birth and mother maiden name was Holder.

It's one of these situations that's going to bug me.

I want to track the boys though but know that is a hard task.

I have a even better mystery to work out but not even started on that one yet

Just a thought .. maybe your Jack [john] joined up in WW2. The boys could have been left with someone to look after??
