Poor old William.

Just been printing off some parish regs. from my PR discs, and came across this entry.

Amersham, Bucks, Burial - 16 Feb 1659. William, son of Paul, died of the stone weight, 30 inch.

William was baptised in 1634, to Paul & Abigail Ives.

Any idea what stone weight, 30 inch, means.

I also thought that he may have been punished in such a way :'o

They did that in the Salem witch trials in the 1600's

I thought Mill stone or something Julie, but I think what you have found is nearer the truth.
