Many of my ancestors came from the potteries, they must have had true broad pottery accents. I found this interesting link relating to it . I've seen examples of this before, and it can be hard to follow :D

Hi Ellie......i travel the country as you know and i deliver to the Potteries often...Fenton is a place i go to a lot....blimey i love it there,a real blast from the past.
The Stoke dialect is often misheard as Scouse...a few people i talk to there do sound rather scouse.
Stoke On Trent is one of the last few relics of Englands industrial past...Burslem and other villages all joined together to form the City of Stoke.

Burton Upon Trent is another relic i like....crossing that river into the historic brewing capital of the midlands.
As for accents....tape yourself then listen to it,you will be amazed at your dialect...you dont hear it when you talk....mine is a real carrott cruncher/southern drawl...with a hint of London.

My dad was born in Fenton, he used to tell me about Fenton when I was little. He lived very close to Fenton Park- still lovely to this day:)
