Elizabeth Proud

Hi all i'm looking for some help in finding Elizabeth Proud b.1837.Elizabeth married John McNaughton on 19 Mar 1855 at Holy Trinity, Stockton-On-Tees, Durham.Elizabeths father was Thomas Proud,I have found a few Elizabeth's but cant seem to pin down the right 1. Any help would be great as this is a big sticking point for me

Forgot to mention- there is some family stories to this woman,word goes that she was from a very weathy family and was dissowned and written out of any wills because they felt she married below her status by marrying John McNaughton.I would love to find out if this is true or just tall tails passed down.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where i could look to find Thomas Proud b.1812 stockton on tees? I'm havin trouble finding his parents as i only have church records to try,And as i live in scotland i dont have access to stockton's parish records Is there any other way to locate his parents?
