Hi Dave

It's odd why Frederick's death can't be found but as you said going by the E/R's he died between 1954-55.

THE SPANISH INFLUENZA
The pandemic lasted from approximately July 1918 to April 1919 with a major peak in the UK between September 1918 and January 1919. It can be assumed that the vast majority of illness deaths in these periods were due to the Spanish flu.

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much.

--------
1937 QLD Electoral Roll - Brisbane - Toowong
NOFFKE Isabella Thurza, Jay Park, Indooroopilly, home duties
NOFFKE Robert, Buccan, Jay Park, Indooroopilly, labourer

I've just received the results of the look up and Robert died on 6 Oct 1961

1954 QLD Electoral Roll - Moreton - Wynnum
NOFFKE Isabella Thurza, Formosa rd, Gumdale, factory hand
(also)
NOFFKE Dulcie Mary, Formosa rd, Gumdale, home duties
NOFFKE Robert John, Formosa rd, Gumdale, labourer

So, perhaps Robert and Isabella separated, but where is Robert?

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Another result of the look up:

1913 QLD Electoral Roll – Oxley - Coorparoo
MORLEY Louisa May, Logan rd, shop assistant
MORLEY Mary Hannah, Logan rd, home duties
MORLEY William, Logan rd, -
South Brisbane Cemetery
Morley Mary H NR* 25 / 02 / 1920 Unknown
Morley William NR* 02 / 12 / 1918 Unknown
Death Reg# 1918/B28415 Morley William <------- Is he mine ? = NO

He died 2 Dec 1918 - parents Samuel & M.

Parents of my William are William Parkin & Sophia CHOLERTON

So that leaves this one:

1913 QLD Electoral Roll – Capricornia – Mount Morgan
MORLEY William, Horse Creek, engine driver
He was born in Ireland about 1855 but he did arrive with the family as he is on the shipping record.

Emigrated with family on 'Abbey Holme' arriving Qld. 13 Sep 1871 IMM/114 p.142 M1697
William P 50
Sophia 40
William 16
If the 'engine driver' can't be found after 1913 then I'll arrange another look up for his death soon after that date. I thought I had him with the 1918 death.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

:2fun:

There are TWO of them and I only had ONE in my tree. I have the wrong one married to Isabella. It makes sense now it's NOT the one borh 1879 but the one born 1897 :D who married Isabella in 1922.

I'll get back to you in a day or so re both Roberts.

Edit - YES that's the spouse I SHOULD have :D

Regards,

Dave

Hi,
I've just joined this forum, and I'm not sure of the protocol. I'm searching for news of my Mother. She and my Father divorced in 1942, with my brother and I in the custody of my Father. Apart from a couple of chance meetings shortly after the event, we've never again been in touch. I recently learned that she re-married in 1945, to a Leslie Felix Delaunay, and that they had both emigrated to Australia in 1951. A search in Australia records, revealed a Leslie Felix Delaunay, and Kathleen May Delaunay, (My Mothers Christian names)on the electoral roll in the Moreton Ward of Brisbane for 1954. Unfortunately the records only ran up to 1954, so I've no idea how things went from then. A search by solicitors, many years ago, in respect of a bequest from her mother, determined that she had died, but later than her mother, so the bequest, (only a few pounds), went to her estate, rather to my brother and I, but the details were never passed down.
I'd be grateful if anyone can guide me in new avenues of search.
As a rather remarkable coincidence, a few years ago, ny daughter spent a year backpacking around Australia, and spent about six months of that in Brisbane, unaware that she was treading in the footsteps of her grandmother.

Hi Dave

This could be one of my OOPHS moments>:D >:D >:D

Fortunately I went back to 1913 and noticed William Morley indexed four times at Oxley - Coorparoo. Now its common for two indexes because some E/R's have a 2nd edition. So guess what, yes there are two William Morley's on same page.

Marriage
1896/B18343 Stacey Louisa Morley William

1908 QLD Electoral Roll – Oxley - Coorparoo
MORLEY Louisa, Dunellan st, housewife
MORLEY William, Dunellan st, butcher

1913 QLD Electoral Roll – Oxley - Coorparoo
MORLEY Louisa, Mary st, housewife
MORLEY William, Mary st, slaughterman

1919 QLD Electoral Roll – Oxley - Coorparoo
MORLEY Louisa, Mary st, housewife
MORLEY William, Mary st, slaughterman

1925 QLD Electoral Roll – Moreton - Coorparoo
MORLEY Louisa, Mary st, housewife
MORLEY William, Mary st, slaughterman

1934 QLD Electoral Roll
Name: William Morley
Title:
Place of Living: Mary st.
Occupation: slaughterman
Gender: M
Division: Griffith
Sub Division: Coorparoo
Number: 6612

1934 QLD Electoral Roll
Name: Louisa Morley
Title:
Place of Living: Mary st., Greenslopes
Occupation: home duties
Gender: F
Division: Griffith
Sub Division: Coorparoo
Number: 6610

1937 QLD Electoral Roll - Griffith - Coorparoo
MORLEY William, Mary st, slaughterman

Nothing after 1913 for the engine driver.

What do you think!!!!!!!

Hello crankypants,

Thanks. I think that given the male MORLEYs don't live to be more than about 60 that the chances of that one being William born 1855 is low. I'll arrange a look up for the deaths of both of them but it may be 10 days before I get the result.

Regards,

Dave
