Hi Michelle,

I may well have what you are looking for and yes, she was the daughter of John Bawtree and Mary Postle. Mary Postle is a GGGGGG+++ aunt of mine and I am looking for their descendants and have found there are quite a few in Canada!

Abberton House, Abberton. Reg Dist Lexden and Winstree

1841 Census has a Rachel Bawtree born Essex in 1828 with parents John, a banker and Mary. Looks like the same couple mentioned earlier in the 1851 Census.

It seems that there were 2 Edwards to confuse the issue. One was the eldest son of John Bawtree and Mary Postle (of Norwich), Edward William Bawtree, 1818-1898, Physician who married 3x (Ithink), one to the granddaughter of an Indian chief, 2ndly to Louisa Mitchell, and thirdly to Emily.
His eldets son by Louisa was Edward John, born in Upper Canada, (Ontario) in 1848.

Edward W, the father was quite a traveller, he worked as a doctor for the army in India, Australia and Canada.

I would be very interested in the descendance to and from John Henry Bawtree - conversely i have quite a lot of information on the family as a whole....it gets larger daily!
