Ramsays of England/Dalhousie

Valued Member
This may seem a strange question but my father in-law (John Grant Ramsay born 1928 Middlesbrough) has always told my husband John Grant Ramsay born Middlesbrough 1955 that his family goes back to the Dalhousie Castle. I have been unable to find a connection. I have gone back to a Gerard Ramsay died Corbridge 1716. I have tried for years to find a connection but so far to no avail. Can anyone advise where to look next. I have not been able to find a Ramsay on my husbands side that was born in Scotland.
