Why is it so hard to trace family history of recent years, parents and grandparents seemed to keep anything a bit dubious as a "not in front of the children" mentality hence that when it comes to unearthing where parents worked or what they did is very difficult. May be some one out there may know, any help much appreciated

Hi Rod :)
Gores/Kellys Directory for 1938 has a Frederick Burdis
19 Jessamine Rd High Bebington Bhead, an angle ironsmith.
For the peeps, Iris birth in Sunderland has her mother's maiden name as Potts.

FreeBMD have a marriage for Iris Burdis in 1st qtr 1952 Birkenhead
to Arthur C.R Willis. Next to Iris surname is an asterisk which states Miller as her previous name, not Millen.

I found this marriage

Albert C R Willis
Spouse Surname: Iris Miller Or Burdis

Registration district: Birkenhead Cheshire

Do you want to trace Iris's parentage or just in the 1990's

Hi
I can see your birth record but I can't find any other children to Iris's two marriages. There are 2 trees on Ancestry which give Fredericks 6 siblings and info about most of them who were still in the Sunderland area., but not Frederick, his line finishes just before he married.

If you do not have access to ancestry and would like to contact the tree owners, once you have made three posts and your user name turns green, you can send me your email address by private message, which I will pass on to them for you

Hi
Iris died a/j qtr 1974 in Birkenhead ref 37-0601.
Albert Cecil R Willis born 13/2/1921 Totnes, Devon; died Oct 1984 Birkenhead ref 37-622

If you get the death cert, it could tell you who reported the death and where they lived

there are 10 Willis's listed in Birkenhead on www.192.com
