Recent Marriage

My sister is trying to find out if a long lost friend has married.She was her bridesmaid in 1960,she hasn't seen her since.She was a Margaret Winser,at the time she was living in the Carlisle area of Cumbria.If she married it would be after 1960.I know this might be a long shot but thanks for any help.Cumbrian

do you mean a re-marriage? if it were me I would begin by looking for a death (of the groom from 1960)

I would also try www.friendsreunited.co.uk and see if she is there, there is also www.192.com as well to check.

I take it that the friend your Mum is wondering about was her bridesmaid at your Mum's wedding?

You would need to have a look through the full indexes on ancestry for marriages and search each year quarter by quarter. Not an easy job, but not impossible.

Tom and Darkcrystal thank you.This Margaret Winser was my sisters bridesmaid at her wedding in 1960.She has not seen Margaret since her wedding day,She thinks she got married,i was trying to find her wedding.But what my sister is trying to do is find Margaret.Thank You.Cumbrian

ah I think I understand now,

it was your sisters wedding and Margaret was her bridesmaid. In which case was Winser her maiden name? I presume so. (also was it spelled Winser? or was it Windsor?) Like Tom has said I would look, in the complete indexes from the time your sister got married and trawl quarter by quarter, it won't be a quick fix but it is a starting point.

I would try Friends Reunited as well, as you (well women,) tend to use their maiden names so is worth a shot before trawling
