ROBERT J. REED Age 70 of Crown Point, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point, Indiana. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Wilma; children, Patty (Douglas) Kvachkoff of Crown Point, James (Janet) Reed of Lowell, Tom (Kristine) Reed of Crown Point, Bill (Jackie) Reed of Lowell, Ellen (Bryan) McKay of Lowell, John Reed of Crown Point, Joan (Eric) Polk of Merrillville, Ann (Brian) Berger of Crown Point; grandchildren, Mary, Michael, Kathleen, Christine, Patrick, Caroline, Thomas and Steven Kvachkoff, Joe, Jenny & Jamie Reed, Rebecca, Sarah, Susan and Emily Reed, Clara Reed; Jacob McKay, Matthew Polk, Brian, Lauren, Catherine, Megan and Madison Berger; one sister, Connie (John) Paulus of Illinois. He was preceded in death by: granddaughter, Elizabeth Reed; parents, Samuel and Eleanor Reed; brother, Samuel Reed; sister, Mary Vossberg. Funeral service will be held Monday, July 28, 2003 at 9:15 a.m. from Geisen Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 8303 Taft St., Merrillville, Indiana, with Father Joseph E. Vamos officiating. Interment at Maplewood Memorial Cemetery, Crown Point, Indiana. Friends may call at Geisen Funeral Home, 109 N. East St., Crown Point, Indiana on Sunday, July 27, 2003 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Vigil service 4 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Reed was a life member, lector, usher and CCD teacher at Our Lady of Consolation Church. He graduated from Purdue, Delta Tau Delta Fraternity; also attended Valparaiso University, St. Joseph College, Indiana University and received his Masters Degree in Counseling from Ball State University. He taught school at Alexander Hamilton in East Gary; was a guidance counselor in the Chesterton School System; a Superintendent at U.S. Steel; and a Sgt. with Correctional Officers of Lake County; and President of their union. He was a 4-H leader for many years. A member of the Lake County Farm Bureau, American Southdown Breeders Association and Indiana Sheep Breeders Association and an Army Veteran. He loved his children and grandchildren, camping, Fairs and Sheep Shows, grocery shopping and Chinese Food. Memorials may be given to the Crown Point Community Foundation.
