Isabella is listed under 'Single Women' and clearly says Argyleshire so either an error or not the right one.

Another problem with that arrival it's perhaps too close to the marriage date:

I had no luck finding any of the family in 1841 or 1851. It would seem they were in Canada in 1850-1851.

Perhaps Isabella was in Scotland in 1851 and arrived in Australia before the others. ???


No death in NSW for a James with father = Robert.

Because I couldn't see them/her it seemed the only alternative

Can you find Isabella aged about 2 in 1841?

So Isabella in 1851 can't be discounted, age a bit dodgy, but it would mean another search to prove how she links in to the family

Isabella 1851 is neither in nor out. :biggrin:

But no death for a James with father = Robert and no baptism on FS with matching parents Robert & Catherine.

And no baptism on FS for William.


No other baptism on FS for an Isabella born Irvine 1839 - 1841.

Can you find Isabella aged about 2 in 1841?

There are 8 possibles, in Ayrshire, none fit with James/Margaret..

I'll try Argyll

I've been using filters to narrow the numbers, of course that doesn't allow for errors or variants, which is a disadvantage

No record in Ayr in 1839 for an Isabella REID.


I checked those not born in county as well and there is no Isabella that fits in 1841 in FreeCEN.

We know it's James REID and Margaret HOLM(E)S. Isabella age 71 in 1910.

That was a baptism search to see it there were 2x Isabella. The baptism record on FS is not in SP that I can find.

No idea Geoff. Just working off the pob 'Canada' on the shipping record.
