Children of Richard Pitt (d. Tasmania) & Jane Tanner (d. England, date and place not confirmed)

Richard ? Not sure where he fits - d. ? Was he born 1788 two years before his mother married ??

Richard Pitt is believed to have been the child remaining with his mother, Jane Tanner, when his father and siblings migrated to Van Diemens Land.
Salome c. 31 Oct 1792 Tiverton - d. ? probably died in Tasmania but no marriage or death found yet.
There is a marriage in Tasmania in 1851 for a Salome but that is Philip's daughter.

Francis c. 14 Jan 1795 Tiverton - d. Tasmania
Philip c. 30 Sep 1797 Tiverton - d. Tasmania

Hi Dave

Trust Christmas went well..

Somerset, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, 1531-1812:
Jane Tanner

[Jana Tanner]
Event Type: Baptism
Birth Date: 18 Feb 1768
Baptism Date: 8 Mar 1770
Place: Luccombe, Somerset
Parents Nicholas Tanner & Sarah Tanner

Not sure if the Jana Tanner is a user submission or no [no link attached].

The original has 'The Rev.' before Nicholas' name.

Thanks Geoff.

The tree I was given to confirm has this for Jane:

Jane Tanner B. Feb 18th 1768 D. of Rev. Nicholas Tanner of Tiverton D. May 18th 1836 at Tiverton
Another tree has Jane's death at Sampford Arundel, Somerset.

First time I've spent Christmas on that property so that was interesting. The cattle and sheep must have known it was Christmas. :)
Like many parts of NSW they are in desperate need of rain. Unfortunately I only brought 1.5 mm. Many of the menfolk in the area were out fighting bush fires, the closest about 5km from the homestead.

The tree has D. Sept 20 1773 but I don't know how the author found the date of death or how the 1883 one was chosen as no age is quoted.

From FS.

I haven't checked any trees yet, Dave.. Fortunately Anc. has the bap transcript and the image..

Yeah, the trip sounded a bit 'hairy', especially that close

Lots of fires but none near the rail line so made the journey both ways from Sydney to Tamworth by train. The closest fire was started by a lightning strike but it was in lightly timbered grazing country so easy to put out after several days of back burning and dozing a fire break and watching for spot fires from flying embers landing on dry grass. The other larger fire nearby was in a state forest reserve and needed water bombing from a chopper to get it under control.

The fire my cousin and his son and neighbours were fighting was the small one at top left.

"Another tree has Jane's death at Sampford Arundel, Somerset. "

Yeah, that one appears to be Jane Pitts, age at death looks close for that one.

NBI:
20 May 1836
Jane PITTS
Age 67
Sampford Arundel, Holy Cross

Yeah, some mixed experiences there, though on balance I'll stay where I am

Thanks Geoff.

Where would dod 18 May come from?

No idea why Jane didn't join her husband and two sons and a daughter in Tasmania.
