Thanks Emeltee.

That's one I didn't have.

Connection is Newbery family. A very interesting family of Hampton Court.

One thing I have just noticed - when Richard Motz and Susanna Pennell married it is noted that they both signed. However when Susanna Fruit Motz married for a second time to Thomas Newbery she made her mark. Probably nothing in it, just seems strange to me.

Thanks Emeltee.

Yes, I noticed that also. I will shortly be moving on to 'N' in my tree and the Newbery family. Several members married several times and I've tried to sort out some marriages by the fact that the Newbery's in my tree (of Hampton Court) would not be signing by their marks.

The 'signatures' on the 1845 marriage seem to be written in the same hand as the rest of the record. Ok for Susanna if she signed by her mark but odd because in an earlier marriage Thomas signed Thos. Newington Newbery.

Susanna c. 18 Oct 1795 Stoke Damerel, Devon
Michael PENNELL & Jane
Batch: C052422

Can't see a baptism to show that witness Charlotte was a sister. Don't know how related yet.

Hampton Court is across the river Thames in Middlesex.
Son-in-law in the C19th had the double meaning of either son-in-law or step son.
