LEWIS IN WALES = NEEDLE IN HAYSTACK!
My gg grandfather was RICHARD LEWIS b abt 1876 at Penllwip (Penllwyn), Cardiganshire. He was a collier and moved to Maerdy in the Rhondda Valley. Possible sighting on the 1891 census, in lodgings at the time. Birth place given as (Capel) Bangor which used to be in the parish of Llanbadarn Fawr.
I found possible parents in that area, but the birth date for their Richard is 2 years out. There is another poss. in the 1881 census:

Richard Lewis abt 1836 Llanbadarn Fawr, Cardigan - census place Trefeirig
Ann Lewis abt 1868 Daughter - as above
Jane Lewis abt 1871 Daughter - as above
Margaret Lewis abt 1873 Daughter - as above
RICHARD Lewis abt 1875 Son - as above

If it helps - Richard married Ann Davies 2Q 1896 Registered at Pontypridd.
I believe they had 15 children including my grandfather, Wales and Arsenal goalkeeper Dan Lewis.

Any info much appreciated!
Regards
Christine:confused:
