Married 1779 and Robert born 1816? Even if Robert's mother was 16 when she married that would make her 51 when he was born. Possible but...

Also Richard states he is a watchmaker when he married. That is something entirely different to a silversmith.

Did you notice the entry above the one you quote on lancs opc - same date and same name

31/1/1816 St John' Preston
Robert Anderson son of Robert and Elizabeth, Upholsterer

From the Manchester and Lancs FHS Transcription of the 1851 Census the people living with Robert and his family are down as

Ann Maddock 15 Servant Gt Budworth, Cheshire
William Starier? 60 Lodger Coachman Lancaster
Margaret Starier? Lodger's wife Burton, Westmorland

I have not been able to find the family in 1861 either.

Possible ...

Marriage: 6 Jul 1791 St John Preston, Lancashire
Thomas Taylor - this parish
Sarah Holmes - (X), this parish
Witness: John Okey; Wm. Hodgkinson
Married by Banns by: John Nicholson Curate
Register: Marriages 1786 - 1791, Page 426, Entry 978
Source: LDS Film 94013

... but no occupation for Thomas there or on daughter Elizabeth's baptism.

If we say silver smith is not watch maker then no other possible marriage can be found.

The cases are probably made by a silversmith and the workings of the watch by a watchmaker. Definitely two different professions.

I have ?? in my tree with 'possible parents' so it will stay like that.

Can't find baptisms for any siblings of Robert senior.
