robert john hitchcock

i am looking for the service records for robert john hitchcock i know he was in the battle of the somme he was born in 1884 he lived in swinefleet and married euphemia theaker he was wounded {not killed} he died in 1972 can anyone please help

From the Medal Cards WW1..........Robert J Hitchcock.... 7th Yorks Light Infantry.....Private 30234, Victory Medal.......British War Medal.........

That's the only record I can find for a Robert J......will keep digging........Paul

Hi Gill,
I have been through the army records and can't find any records for Robert J Hitchcock, they must have been destroyed in the 40s during the bombing......surprisingly there are no pension records also....with him being wounded in action there usualy is.....looks like the only course of action is to contact the regiment giving them his army number and see what they have.......sorry I couldn't find anything else...........Paul
