Maybe not much help but all the Anc. tree's have him as Robert John 1849 Sligo, Ireland. father and spouse all the same but mother varies. Mary Delves, or Marion.

Probably born Ireland after the family moved back.

William married twice, 1834 was his second.

Seems odd that the marriage reg has Robert James.
