Robert Rosser bc 1780-90 England

#1
Looking for Robert and Sarah (maiden name unknown) Rosser who had 2 children, Robert b1815 and Emma b1816, both of whom were baptised in 1817 at St.Anns, Soho, Westminster, London according to Pallotts registers.
I can only presume that they lived in that area but cannot find either of them, nor Emma. Robert b1815 went on to have a large family after marrying Dinah nee Healey in 1839.

Hi,

The below is to Genuki they give details to where parish ecords of St. Annes
Soho are held.

Havnt been able to locate a death for either Robert and Sarah could have died pre 1837 registration. Did find a Mary born abt 1826 and a Sarah born 1826 living in the parish of St. Annes Soho, could they be children of Robert and Sarah (these two didnt show up on the IGI/Familysearch).

Hi Julie,
I also found that St Anns records are held in the Westminster archives but as I live outside London, I cannot get in there to look at the records and there doesn't seem to be an online search facility there.
Where did you find Mary and Sarah? Were they on the 1841 census?
I found a Sarah Rosser remarriage to Woods 7/9/1840 at St.Giles, her maiden name was Clarke, shown on bmd vol 1, pge 155. Could Robert have died and this be the original Sarah but there is nothing on the certificate to prove it either way.
Also I found a Robert Rosser buried 20/11/1820 aged 52 at Spa Fields Burial ground, address at death given as St Giles in the Fields.
Again, not living in London, I know little of the districts-do you think these could be likely candidates?

Hi,

Having another look at the 1841 census for Mary and Sarah, though they are listed on the opposite page to a Robert and Dinah Rosser (is he Roberts son) the name may have been mistransribed, when looking at it more closely it looks like Roper that may be why they didnt show on the IGI. Sorry to have got you hopes up.

St Annes Soho and St Martin in the Fields are close to each other, so the marriage could be a possible. Have you looked for the Rosser children living near the Woods family in the census?

Have had another look on the 1841 census and the Sarah and Mary Rosser (Roper) are with a Sarah Woods and a John Woods.

Robert and Dinah Rosser are living at 13 Crown Street and the Woods at no 13 (cont'd) Crown Street .

What do you think?

Hi Julie,
Well spotted! I didn't know that they all lived at 13 Crown Street.
Its difficult to see how they are all related though. Robert who married Dinah was the brother of Emma, he born 1815 and she born 1816. If Sarah nee Clarke then Rosser was born 1801, she surely wouldn't have been the mother of Robert unless the birth year is wildly out for her? Mary and Sarah b1826 seem like twins and are more likely to be Sarah's children.
I wonder how to find out Sarah's correct year of birth?
Presumably the Robert who died 1820 born 1768 wasn't her husband?
The plot gets deeper but many thanks for your dogged research so far, Julie.
