awarded the Distinguished Flying
Cross, and Acting Squadron
Leader William Lloyd Brill, D.F.C.,
of Matong (N.S.W.), an immediate
award of the D.S.O.
The Minister announced that
Squadron-Leader Mackie. when on
his first operational tour in
North Africa, made a three days'
trek to his base after being shot
down. In November last ye'ar,
while attacking Berlin, his air
craft was held by searchlights for
16 minutes, but he pressed home
his attack. End Quote
