Could I please have a look up up for this lady, Rosa Julia Giggens c1883

I think I have her in 1901 as a servant.

I have found a Rosetta Giggens in 1891 with parents James and Emma.

She married in London.

Are there any alternatives please.

Steve.:)

Oh well, marriage cert ordered. Should have done it weeks ago, tried to do it on the 'cheap', but as we all know it's not the way to go to save our sanity.:D

Steve.:)
1904 Marriage cert arrived. John Giggens(deceased), given as father for Julia. His occupation is given as Chemist.
Can anyone find this man in any census.

Steve.:)

Hi Steve,

Hope she is yours. If you didnt get the certificate you would be going back and forward with this one, so I think ordering the certificate was the thing to do and hope its money well spent. :)

Birth cert arrived for Rosina Julia Jiggens.

16/03/1883. Reg. Dist - Shoreditch. Sub-dist - Hoxton Old Town. Middlesex.
Father - Nicholas Bedford.
Mother - Annie Emma Bedford(formely Lord??. almost illegible).

Address. 7, Bookham Street. (again, not very clear), Hoxton, Old town.

Had father as John Giggens on her marriage cert. So I doubt if this is the right lady.:'(

Oh Steve,

What a disappointment., tissues on the ready. This lady is really giving you the run around. Just out of curiosity, cant figure out why the parents are Bedfords and she is Jiggens or am I having a blond moment.

I never guessed you were blonde Julie.:kissu:
Rosina Julia Giggens married Arthur Crompton, they had a son George Henry Wynne Cromptom, who then married Eliza Emily Conybeare, who had a child Thelma Blanchard Crompton who married John Sydney Bedford, who are my daughters Grandparents.

See, it's easy.   >:D

Hi Steve,

I meant the birth certificate :) . Why is she a Jiggens and parents Bedfords as they are down as Bedfords in 1891 and 1901 and its strange the the name Bedford has cropped up with Thelma marring a Bedford.

By the way its all natural :2fun: :2fun: :2fun:

I really should be very blonde with a capital B.

Should read.

Thomas Miller? Jiggens.
Annie Emma Jiggens(nee. Lord)

I had 2 birth certs in front of me and got crossed eyed. One for Bedford and one for Jiggens.

Sorry, but I stole your blonde moment.

Hi Steve,

Came across a birth registration for a Rosina Julia Jiggens, year 1883 district Shoreditch, what do you think?
Hi Julie, the details of her date of birth on her death details you gave me are 26/03/1883.

This was the right birth cert after all. Fathers name on marriage cert was John Giggens occ. Chemist which threw the whole thing off course.

Q.E.D. I think, from cradle to grave. :) :)

Phew. :D

Hi Steve,

Glad to hear its the right one, she's certainly given you the run around.
Thomas died young before 1891. May be the case that mum remarried or the wrong details have been entered on the marriage certificate.

I still think the John Gignes (Chemist) was maybe her Grandfather, but will have to keep digging.
I still cannot make out Thomas Miller Jiggens occupation on the birth cert.
On the 1881 census he is down as Grocers assistant. It could be that on the cert.
It looks like the occ. starts with a C or a G.

Hi Steve
I am so glad that you have sorted one bit out !

It is still possible that her grandfather was on the birth certificate. My great grandmother had William Jones . Pilot from Caernarfon on her birth. I searched all the Census from Anglesey to Caernarfon . I found one on an island called Llanddwyn off Anglesey about the right age and followed him for some years but never found Ellen. Went back to the begining for the 1881 Census and found her with her mother as servants to this family I did know about.

Back to the 1861 Census, Ellen had just been born and was named as Elizabeth 1 month old. 1871 she was called Eleanor.!! Grandfather was William Jones living in Under Love Lane. Conjures up lovely pictures in the mind- so wrong !! I was then told all Pilots went from generation to generation. Wrong !! I have the choice of 4 sets of parents none of them to do with the sea.

And you think you have problems !!!:2fun: :2fun:
