Hi,

Would anyone here be kind enough to do an ancestry search on the Birmingham electoral roles please for the following people please?

Alice Rothen (Maiden Name Alice Saunders - born in 1907 and Albert Victor Rothen .

Albert may well have died in 1940 as I have found a death record which is a high probability (just emailed the cemetery to confirm) however Alice Saunders / Rothen appeared as a witness of my grandfathers marriage in 1941 as she is on the marriage certificate and I am trying to trace any living relatives etc.

Many Thanks

Scott

In 1939 they are at 13, Mintern Road, Birmingham, Albert born 1/6/1904 a Brass Dresser and Alice down as Rothen crossed out and Beech written born 29/10/1906. Presumably the name change is because of later remarriage

Dec 1946 Birmingham vol 9c p1129 Alice Rothen/Richard Beech

Thanks all,

Would these documents be edited after the event?

I ask as Alice's 2nd marriage is after the 1939 registry was taken so who would have edited it with the new marriage details and dare I ask why?

Although the Register was taken in 1939 the records were obviously kept during the war years. In 1948 it became the basis of the new NHS Index and, as such, the records were updated (eg new surname on marriage etc) until it ceased to be used in 1991 -obviously superceded by something computerised I would think.
